Looked at pictures of my truck progress. I was missing her because she is 1100kms away from where I'm working but all the awesome builds and pics on this site keep me going until I can get some more build hours in

Repainted the cab in an attempt to match the "Patina". Next week will "age" the paint by sanding and rusting it.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

I have a big oil leak to the back transmission (SM420), so have ordered a new out put shaft seal.
In an attempt to replace the seal, I have removed the propeller shaft, parking brake drum and band, expecting to be able to remove the oil seal from the outside but I didn’t succeed. So I have removed the case rear casting. Just to discover that the rear main shaft bearing had a lot of play so needs replacement. I have so decided to remove the transmission from the truck, just to have a look at the other bearings. The main shaft front bearing is worn out too. Ended by an order for a bearings and seals kit.
I had the plan to replace the clutch throw out bearing as it is a bit noisy. The transmission being removed, I took the opportunity to have a look at the clutch so removed it just to discover that the disk is worn out and it is missing a part of it.
A good day! Had to order a new clutch too!
I have an oil leak at the rear axle. Am just wondering if I will have a look at it !

Cheers
Michel

"Aged" the Cab by sanding and rusting to match the original patina and get the desired "Rusto-Mod" look.

With winter on its way I thought this might be a good time to make some tire/wheel covers. I used scrap material that was saved for something just like this.

Scored carpet for $5 at church fundraising sale. I love them no emotional attachment to any of the stuff so deals can be made. I paid full price! Now just need to cut and get edging put on. Enough to cover it 2-3 times so will not have to worry about day to day damage. From 76-2000 I just tossed in indoor outdoor stuff in what ever pattern caught by fancy at the time.

Removed the steering wheel on the 58 and installed the new fuel sending unit. Replaced the fuel fill hoses on the 59. Now I need to learn to add pictures :-)

So, Fisher, it replaced the stock heater, in the stock location, under the passenger dash?

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Kinda....its in my 46. Never had a heater. I found a 46 Harrison Chevrolet heater, restored it and grafted in a newer style core and fan. Turned out better than I expected. Some of the 47-54 trucks were heater delete and these accesory heaters work well. You can even find them with defrost tubes. I modified the brass works 47-54 deluxe heater core and fan replacement for this one.
