Beautiful rig and a rare gem indead. I've never heard any production numbers, but there are at least two others on the board. Do you have any more pictures?

Here's a site with an ad for the sport bird. Someone posted a picture of all the theme rigs at one point. Try doing a search for "feathers".

...and it's a Highlander. Seems like 72Highlander's sport bird is also a Highlander. I know that sounds redundant but search around a little and you will see. Cstanley is the other guy on the board you are thinking of bouncy.

You mean sorta like I'm building a building for my build redundant

Were the feathers factory or dealer installed?

Re: newb, looking for info.."feathers by chevy"

I believe that Feathers and Sportbird were factory promotional packages. They had different themes on the Pickups, Vans and El Caminos.

OK, then it might be easier to track production numbers

My husband had one of these when we met. We sure would like to have it back. When was that picture taken? Here's one of his from about 1974. Sorry for the low picture quality

Re: newb, looking for info.."feathers by chevy"

Every so often, the decals show up on e-bay and bring big bucks even though they are usually so dried out that installation would a big MAYBE! The 70's had lots of this kind of wierd stuff--probably the result of what the marketing geniuses were smoking in their offices. The best know of this era was the eagle spread on the hood of the Firebird, the plum crazy paint on the mopar's etc. Thank god for the 80's! hehehehehe

Wow, that is awesome. That is my blazer to a T, right down to the 16.5's mine should have. I can't wait to scrape up more money to start on my frame.

Re: newb, looking for info.."feathers by chevy"

Never had ours stuck in the sand, but we did get it stuck in the mud in the mountains one time. Had it buried up to the hubs in on all 4 wheels. It took 4 4-wheel drives chained end-to-end to pull us out!

Re: newb, looking for info.."feathers by chevy"

I have a "Feathers by Chevy". That is why my handle is FBC72. I bought mine about 13 years ago, from the 4th owner. It still has the original paint and decals, except for the right front fender that was replaced when I bought it. The paint and decals are getting pretty rough, and I'm afraid I'm going to have to paint repaint it soon. The "Feathers by Chevy" was a dealer installed option from what I've found. Mine is a CST, with the Highlander trim package as well. Any questions, just ask, I'll try to answer. Here is an add for Feathers that I found in an old magazine.

Re: newb, looking for info.."feathers by chevy"

My blazer was originally a 2wd 307 3 on the tree cst with the SportBird package. All the feathers were gone as well as the 307 by the time i got it. All that was left was the Glove box door. Sorry no pictures. wouldn't be all that impressive sitting in my garage in pieces anyway.
