Temp Gauge Doesn't Work - Temperature Sensor?
I have a 72 Chevy C10 that the PO installed a Chevy 305 sb from a 1984 Camaro (or other F-body car). I gave it a good tune up and it runs well now, but the temperature gauge doesn't work. I looked at the engine block, below the exhaust manifold on the driver's side and it looks like there is a sensor there, but it's not connected to anything. Just need to know if connecting a cable from the dash panel would fix this and if so, what type of cable I need to get? I can post pics if necessary.
Thanks in advance for your help. |

Re: Temp Gauge Doesn't Work - Temperature Sensor?
I ran into kinda same problem on my truck. What I done was went to Pull-A-Part junk yard an walked around until I found one off of a chevy vehicle. I'm not sure if you can buy the wire you need. It just clips on the sensor on your motor and run it to gauge. Be careful if you are running headers that you don't let the wire ride up against them.

My 71 has a dark green wire in the harness with a slide clip on it that connects to the sensor and i believe that the sensors for a gauge dash and the idiot light dashs are different
