Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

Looking through my old pix I found the install instructions for the swing away tire carriers for our Blazers...from a NOS kit I found on CL in TX.

Figured I would post up the pix that I took of them...

If somebody wants to host it so others can download the larger size - shoot me a PM with your email and I can email (one person) the large file to host for everybody. Once we get it hosted somewhere - we can add the link to this post for you to download it...

The larger size I have allows you to zoom in and read the print clearly...

Thanks.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

That is cool. I've never seen those. I didn't know the upper inside bracket was designed to go in through the side marker.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

Did a Gas can come with the carrier? If so does anyone have any pics of one? I have the carrier and was wondering what the can add on would look like or where to find one.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

There were several different brands of swing away carriers. I've had carriers with and without the gas/jerry can mount. I've also seen versions with the "bucket" to hold the gas/jerry can and versions with just clips.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

Thanks Bouncytruck, mine is like the picture above. I am guessing it was designed to fit a regular Gas/Jerry Can?

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

lks dcvn has my old swing away with a gas/jerry can holder and the photos I have of it are on my home computer. If I recall correct, the bracket looked something like

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

I just bought a swing out like the one in the picture. Any idea what and or how to replace the inside pieces with the rods that this one did not come with? I think the old ones rotted off.

Thank for the pics they will come in handy.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

You will likely have to find a used set somewhere - without seeing them first hand they would be hard to explain the shape/dimensions of the replacement pieces...

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

There was a swing-away for sale on the Seattle Craigslist a couple weeks ago. It's actually been for sale for a long time. I think it's missing the brackets that go inside the bed wall because they aren't in the photos that have been posted.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

Yea the one i just bought off e-bay was missing those inside pieces but for 25 bucks with the gas can i could not pass it up. When i get time i will try to see what i can come up with to duplicate the original pieces would appreciate any help if anyone has had to do this before.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

I loaned a set of the two inside brackets to a board member many years ago. He discovered that having them reproduced was cost prohibitive. They wanted a couple hundred each because they have compound bends to match the angles of the bed walls.

Re: Swing Away Tire Carrier Instruction Sheet

I might try some flat bar and try to match the bend on the rack. I wonder how thick they were 3/16 or 1/4 inch
