I need some ideas for a fuel filler location for my 68 long bed fleetside. I purchased a poly tank and the filler neck is in a bad spot.

Flip down liscense plate, through the bed, through a flipdown taillight

Flip up board in the bed to acess filler.

I have seen really cool billet gas doors..you could mount that on the side behind or in front of the rear fender opening. Thats what I plan on doing when I relocate my tank.

I put mine thru the left inner wheel well, hidden from out side and still acessable when bed is loaded

I mounted mine through the rear fender on the drivers side. We used a door from a Honda sportbike tank. There are pics on my site. http://photos.yahoo.com/cruzn72@pacbell.net

I thought of a door on the back side of the fenderwell with a after market door but my problem is routing the filler hose from the tank to the filler location. The neck of the tank is infront of the bed support, I notched it and tried to use a billet fuel filler through the bed floor but the angle and short distance between the filler tube and the filler is only 4-5 inches. I am using a poly tank. Should I punt and go with a SS or alum. tank?

Mine is a marine type and the other is a friends on his 37 Chevy Pickup.

I made a flip down tail light. (Alot of frigging work !) If the filler neck is not in the right place on the poly tank heat it up with a heat gun and bend it. I did that to mine worked great.
