Poll Would you classify your truck as a 1) "Work" truck, or 2) a "Cruiser"

Ok...as I read many of the post about your trucks...the thought came to me: How many use your truck for work verses for cruising? Maybe you use your truck for both work and cruise. What say yee? If your truck is under restoration then how do you plan on using it?

I use all of mine (the ones that run, that is). I use my '69 C-10 probably the least amount, but I'm not scared of throwing of something on the back. I use the dually I lot, and the wrecker and car hauler get get abused!

My truck is my everyday basic transportation when I'm not riding on 2 wheels, but it's got a nice stance, so it cruises pretty good. I don't hesitate to throw some bikes in the back and go to the track or out to the woods to ride. It's pretty every day handy, but far from shiny.

Re: Poll Would you classify your truck as a 1) "Work" truck, or 2) a "Cruiser"

My 68 used to be my daily driver/ occasional delivery truck. I work for my parents making picture frames. About every week we have to make deliveries to Pigeon Forge. It never bothered me to load it down with a few boxes of frames and glass to make smaller loads. We take the shop truck for big loads. I also hauled anything that would fit and wouldn't cause any damage if it slid around. I also showed it some.

After the resto, however, the only thing I'll be hauling in the back will be a small cooler and some folding chairs.

The first pic is before the resto.

Same here. I have my Z71 for "work stuff." It has a much bigger bed with a liner...although....I have brought trash to the dump with the 67.... does that count?

My 67 is my only street legal vehicle, so its my DD, hauler, and cruiser. Mine still isnt beautiful enough to be a cruiser only. I know if I owned some of yalls trucks, it would be just cruiser. But I love functionality.

Re: Poll Would you classify your truck as a 1) "Work" truck, or 2) a "Cruiser"

I've used mine for light hauling as well as cruising (ugly cruising according to my wife). When I get the build done, it will go back toi beijng a sorta worker and definitely a cruiser.

SISSY!

What you can't see is the 15 boxes of rotten old canned foods in mason jars in the floor of the bed. AND I had already unloaded 3 tables that were in the bed.

Mine is my ONLY vehicle (my wife has her car, but...
So yea, it does whatever I need to get done - plus it looks pretty at the shows/cruise-ins too.

Re: Poll Would you classify your truck as a 1) "Work" truck, or 2) a "Cruiser"

I chose to work on a truck because it had a utility function. If it weren't for this, I'd probably have a car of some type.

I Hauled about 800lbs of manufactured stone in it this morning, and about 700lbs of sand and mortar mix last Saturday. Felt fine accelerating and braking, but the coils in the rear really made it squat. I think I've had close to 1200lbs of stone in it at one point too.

I'll miss the rusted up "don't give a sh*t" bed when my nice rust-free one is ready to be bolted on.

What happens to payload capacity when you lower a truck lets say.... 4 or 5 inches??? Can it still haul up to 1000lbs?

Depends on how you lower it.

I am not a genius - but there are ways to achieve that much drop and still be able to haul a load.

The route I'll be taking is to flip my rear end therefore saving my rear load capacity. The only thing I will lose is my "sag-ability." (I have rear leafs of course).

Then with air bags - you can do it ea$ily.

my 67 is my daily driver, and cruiser...and ill put anything in it that wont make it bottom out to hard, my 72 when it was all together its a cruiser, the whole shaved tailgate doesnt allow for much work..other than a cooler a tent and a few folding chairs.....

Re: Poll Would you classify your truck as a 1) "Work" truck, or 2) a "Cruiser"

When I bought it 8 years ago, it was my daily driver. When I was retired before I was ready to retire, I took another job and had to buy a late-model work vehicle. After 6 years of it being an extra vehicle, driven less than a thousand miles a year, it's time to make it "nice". So, it goes to the "doctor" on Friday (Oct. 12) for a makeover...yeah, that's what it is getting, a makeover. I have pix that will serve as the before pix. The guy who will be working his magic on it is a genius. It will be black, with old-school flames on the hood, and down the front fenders just barely extending onto the doors. Gonna put a tailgate handle relocator on it, and do a Rhino Liner in the bed. I gotta figure whether or not to flame it on the bottom of the hood. I have seen this kids work and it is fabulous! He flamed his dad's truck under the hood and the lines of the flames are all in sync on the top and the bottom of the hood. He even flamed the inner fenders.

Yeah, I really want to lower it some, but I don't want to lose the ability to comfortably haul around 1000 lbs if necessary.

Dailey driver for 20 years now, except for when it was being worked on. After I get it back from the paint shop hopefully another 20 years of driving.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
