402 Build, thoughts on the cam

I am rebuilding a 402 BB out of my 72 chevy super 20. It has a turbo 400 with 4;10 gears. I am going to keep the stock manifolds a/c and duel 2" exhaust. I want to have a reliable engine that has more power without getting worse gas mileage. I am looking at two different comp cams,
CL11-231-3 Duration 254/262, Lift .505/.505,
CCA-K11-234-3 Duration 256/268, Lift .480/.485 in.
Thank you

Either one will work great for your application. I would pick the first one. More lift to duration than 2nd cam. Most people forget that even though a 402 is a big block, it is a SMALL big block.

Yea it is a small, big block. It is also a 4,000 lb truck so torque at the low end is important. Most write ups are for hots rods or 454's. The stock motor was rated at 230 hp and I would like 325 hp or so. Once it is bored .030 over and decked it should go around 9;1 compression and I upgraded to a HEI. I am running stock heads with new seats, springs and a valve job. It was my Dad's truck and I want to keep it looking stock.
