Saddle Interior Color Question

Hello Gents:

I have a question about the different saddle color interiors over the years. I have a 72 GMC with the factory saddle color (I think) interior. The option sticker was removed by the owner a few years back for paint. I purchsed 5 sunvisors over the years trying to match the original sunvisor as the other visor was missing when purchased. The visor on the left is a visor bought from a board member described as "oem saddle". The visor on the right is the oem I pulled out of my truck. I believe it to be the original as I purchased the truck from the original owner and he stated the interior has never been changed. I have also included a pic of my broken dash pad for color comparison. Was there different colors of saddle interior made between 67-72? If so, what color of saddle do I have? Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

Re: Saddle Interior Color Question

This can get really frustrating, because sun can fade things over the years, and not every shade for every part even matched from the factory. Case in point, my '69. It came with a one year only dark navy blue interior. The door panels, steering wheel and column, and dash pad are all dark navy. Guess what color my original visors are? Light blue.

They don't even make navy parts anymore. I'm in the market for a new dash pad, and I'm going to either have to get black and install it, or paint the black one navy. Where there's already the black window gasket, black instrument panel, radio knobs, etc. I may just go black.

Re: Saddle Interior Color Question

I like the saddle interiors. I don't think enough people keep them.

Mister-B....I feel your pain as the parts are not cheap and very hard to find paint that matches. I have never seen the navy blue, but it really sets your truck off. I like it!

Re: Saddle Interior Color Question

The saddle in 69 is lighter in color than 1972 being the darkest saddle and the Sun fade doesn't help.

Re: Saddle Interior Color Question

I know that my local respected paint shop has two different code numbers for '71 saddle and '72 saddle. I was going to pony up the $100 min charge for the vinyl paint since both of my trucks are saddle until I discovered that. I had them double check even.
I didn't really compare my trucks that closely since any subtle differences are certainly baked away by sun and age.

You are probably going to have to get a pair of visors and tuck the one original away.

Re: Saddle Interior Color Question

As mentioned, the saddle varied in different years. But,'72 had one saddle. In a given year in a given color the different pieces don't match. Some seats even vary in color from the insets to the borders.
