What do I need to change

I am considering an ls 4.8-6.0 swap in my 65 Chevy shortbed. I will be gettin a dropout motor from a truck and all the harness. I have gen 1 sbc and 700r4 trans now. Lmc stock under bed tank and 7 gph electric fuel pump. What do I need to change as far as fuel system besides the pump and lines. Do I need to run a return line and how to plumb into the tank. Need to know the cheapest way to do this swap so I can just get it in and modify from there later

Re: What do I need to change

Whether or not you run a return line is dependent on the motor you get. Take a look through some of the fuel system threads in this section; every whichway has been covered, and the majority of parts (fuel pump, hardlines, line sizes) will have some level of interchange.

No matter which way you go, the feed line will be 3/8, and require a Push To Connect fitting at the Rail. No matter which way you go, you'll need a pump that can keep 60+psi at a respectable flow rate (over 180lph). No matter which way you go, you'll want a good Fuel Injection safe filter, with a Micron level suitable for the application (pre vs post filter, I don't run a pre filter).**

**If you browse the threads, you'll see that there different ways people achieve the same thing. The biggest difference is a)whether or not you NEED the return line, b)the correct filter choice as determined by a.

SUMMARY: find out if the engine is return or not, then take a look at the hundreds of examples of fuel systems we have outlined in detail here in this section. If you need a return style, there are plenty of threads (inlcuding my build) that will show your the project. If you need non-return, there are just as many samples to look through.
