What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
No parade for me...I'm a party pooper. I finally was able to go up and play with the truck some this weekend. I finished hoking up the front crossmember from the 70, cleaned up a bit of the frame to install my newer power steering box. I'm going to be steaming the whole truck done, but I can't tow it until I had the front end all bolted backup. So I decided to clean off the rail around the power steering, and paint it an my new box befor I put them on. Also got the new shock on the truck. No more worn out low rider front end.
Not much, but it sure felt good to be back making a mess, I mean making progress. I even finally found my frame serial number. I still have not located it on the original 70's frame, but least I have a better idea where they actually put them. For those of you that, like me, could never find them, the third shot shows where they are on the drivers frame rail.

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
I started tearing apart stuff that I was going to use, but changed my mind (imagine that) so now I have some of that stuff for sale. Decided to change the exhaust fan in our 2nd bathroom, well it involved too much work so I left it dissassembled and went to the garage only to find my tore apart jimmy waiting on me. I installed the intake, a new oil filter, oil sending unit, was getting ready to prime the system and guess what?????????????????????????????????????????? I didnt install the oil pump shaft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man, was I a little upset. I started taking the oil pan off and decided to leave it since it was getting dark and cold and my shop light bulb burnt out. Oh yeah, can you help me adjust my new two barrel, it idles really rough.

I picked up a pair of seats. I can't wait to sit in them. I will first have to figure out how to hook up all the power seat wires.

I got the 3/5 springs installed, put the fenders and hood back on, made the motor mounts for the LS1, and did a little cleaning on the motor.

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
I got a few hours in today gutting the '68 motorhome. Next weekend, it's time to remove the outer aluminum skin and start hacking up the wooden framework. Filled a couple of dumpsters this weekend.

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
well, besides taking the kids to hockey and soccer on Saturday as per usual, I bought myself a nice set of KB .030 flat tops on Eagle H beam rods, that were used for one weekend, and I located a donor truck for my '67 cross member upgrade. Its a rotted '76 plain jane Silverado, but its complete. Gas tank had hole in it so the owner stopped driving it. Can have it for $350 or maybe a little less.

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
My dad got some more progress on the time consuming Monster Truck. Over the past year it has gotten lifted around 5 more inches!!!! Bringing the total lift to around 18-21 inches. I am excited to see it with the tires back on it. He lined up the bed and got it put back on. Fabbed up the crossover steering and also line up the body. Painted the shocks and got them on. Won't be long (fingers crossed, I have got a date as soon as this is done with a special lady)

Bill, that is a good shot of the firewall. It has been a long time since I have seen that truck in gold. I will have to dig up some old pics that I have from 1988 or 1989 when my best friend got it from his grandfather. It was a sandlewood, goldish beige color with a white roof. Hopefully I can dig up some pics soon for you!

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
For the first weekend in a LONG time....i was actually productive with my truck.....pulled the front hubs and replaced both inner and outter wheel bearings both sides (quite the friction fit on those races!), installed locking hubs on my front axle, put in a clutchable fan, and installed my PB booster......which of course meant my air cleaner no longer fit.....ahhh....its never ending!

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
I installed the rear window in my 67. I tried installing the windshield and learned that if you hit the windshield with a hammer (even a "soft" deadblow), it will break. I guess that I will have a professional complete the next one. I was so close, it just would not quite set correctly. Oh well, lesson learned. The biggest regret is that I spent about 4 hours on the windshield that I could have been doing something else!

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
I got my airbags installed on the back of my 'burb. I got the 6" drop kit from early classic, but when I let the jack down, I thought the thing was going thru the floor! It had about an inch between the u-bolt and the frame. Couldn't drive it like that, and I didn't want a C-notch. So, upgrade time! The ECE guys are great, they helped out with shipping, too. I never thought I would put bags on any of my vehicles, but I really like them. There may be some in my 68 elky's future too! I also got some relays installed on my headlights.

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
Painted my tailight housings inside/out. Painted my new sway bar with some rust encapsulator (now if UPS will settle my claim the bushings, brackets and bolts THEY LOST I could install the dang thing!) I also thorougly coated the inside/back of my new Goodmark '67 front fenders with rust encapsulator, they will also be coated with a bedliner material as well. I coated the rolled edge and inner window areas of my new Goodmark doors and filled the seams with some 3M sealer. I'm not too excited about trying to coat the inside of the doors... maybe next weekend.

Re: What Ya'll get done this Mardi Gras Weekend?
I did some clean up on the front end and ordered all of the suspension/steering parts from NAPA....ball joints, tie rods, pitman, idler, a-arm saft assy, etc. Didn't intend on spending that much but everything will be new.
I've got the drop spindles and 4" drop springs from GMCPaul's so.....next weekend I'll start the rebuild on the front end. Once that's finished, in goes the fresh 350/350 combo. It's amazing how much gets done when you actually do some work.
