tilt

Will a 73-87 tilt column work in our trucks. Just curious what I can all us off an 85 parts truck I have. Any pictures would be appreciated.

at least 1 difference is that the key is on the column, on our trucks it's on the dash.

wiper switch, high beam switch, ignition switch, column is larger in diameter...
It can be done, but it isn't a simple bolt in, and you'll have extra switches and stuff...but it has been done.

I did mine with one from a fullsize car column. It works, but thats about it. Doesn't look all that good either.

the 72 - 81 (and early 82 3/4 ton) van columns is as close as you can get, and it looks bone stock, and in many areas, they are a dime a dozen if you get it at the junk yard yourself.

I picked up one of those the other day. What's all involved in making a van tilt work in a truck? I know its beeen listed on the board a 100 times, I just never paid and attention to it untill I actually bought one.

i'll try and go that way too. I went looked at the other tilt and saw how it wouldn't look right.

Yes, I would stay away for the later modles like the '73-'87. That van tilt is your best bet. I just got one for my Burb and moved the safty switch down per instructions. Ir is ready to install.
