Have a newer rebuilt 91 model 350 engine, not sure how to adjust the rocker arms..I have heard that on this style engine you can just tighten them all the way down with the way these rockers are, but i have also heard its the old way, tighten, loosen, adjust etc. Any input is appericated...thanks.

take the play out then 1/4 turn is a good starting point. Or .030 gap if you're using solid lifters.

They arent solid lifters. Is it just best to do it with the valve covers off and wait till i dont hear them chatter anymore?

Search for my posts here. I have posted a couple of time how to adjust the valves on a stock hydraulic cam motor WITHOUT starting the engine. This works, and keeps the mess to almost nothing

This is tricky, because the 6.0, 7.0 and 7.4 liter engines were zero lash which means you tighten them down all the way, but the 5.7l (350) was adjustable so you put it on #1 TDC and take out the slack them tighten another 1/4 turn on 1/2 the cylinders and then turn to TDC again and do the other 1/2. If you need the list of what cylinders to do in what order let me know.

new or old doesn't really matter its just if it has hydraulic lifters or solid this FAQ should tell you anything you need to know
