bagged c10 headers exhaust questions

Now that I have a fresh 350 and a fresh 700r4, it's time to do the exhaust.
I changed the front crossmember to one that would let the tucked exhaust clear, now i have to decide what headers to get.
I can't find a shop in Austin Tx that will just do the whole thing. They want me to supply the headers and rear crossmember.

Do you guys like the short headers that just point straight down or the type that swoop back?

Any troubles hitting the 700r4 shift linkage?

suggestions on which headers (to hang the exhaust high) to order is much appreciated. Not looking to go cheap or break the bank. This is just a weekend driver.

Re: bagged c10 headers exhaust questions

Can't speak to small blocks, but I used Chevelle Hedders on my big block. I did have to modify the shift linkage on the TH400 and get a tubular trans crossmember, but it tucks up nicely. I used a Pypes stainless kit and modified it to fit.

Re: bagged c10 headers exhaust questions

With any header, there might be tweeks to the shift linkage required. Those 3/4 length headers should work well for your exhaust placement needs & keep things above the lip on the bottom of the frame rail.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
