What is this heater control???

I just got this heater control today. It was supposed to be an A/C controler but it isn't. The one on top is an a/c control, the one on the bottom is the one in question...

Thanks in advance....

Non AC (regular heater) from a 65/66 full size Chevrolet. They are much better looking than the normal PU heater control. One of the levers (the temp) operates backwards from the truck. I had to install a bellcrank to make it work properly. You also need the AC adapter bracket to mount it in the dash.

They just look soooooooooo much better.

A/C Control

If it looks just like the truck control, but without the fan switch on the left, it's out of a 65/66 Impala. I can't see your pics because of my virus control.

Pictures installed

Here are some pictures of the instalation

The temp lever moves opposite of what the truck needs. The bellcrank came from mid to late seventies Chev PU heater or AC set-up. Don't remember which one in particular. The other thing I had to do was modify the air flow cable on the bottom of the housing. If I figured this out then most of you that want to also can do it. I am not a great thinker by any means.

One other nice touch with this is that it uses 2 lights for nighttime just like the AC controls.

I'll try to answer other questions if needed - Bob

The air flow cable is real easy the dowel that the cable goes onto goes both ways and sticks out the top for running the fan switch. So what I did was got a longer cable and moved it to come from the other side of that controller and mounted on top. To do this I had to drill a hole on the top to mount it to but it works great. If you mount the cable on top like I did make sure you get a long enough cable so that it doesn't make any hard bends, I think I used the one for the temp control because it is so long. I hadn't figured how to set up the temp control yet so I will have to go get a bellcrank cause that looks great.

The controller needs to have the adapter like the AC control. Will post pic on Wednesday. The e-bay item does not show that part.

Good luck - Bob

That's the first time I've seen a 67 cigarette lighter (on Bob Moore's truck)! I had a 67 truck and searched and searched for one of those for 12 years. The AM/FM radio with the small knobs as well looks great!

As promised more pics. One picture shows the reversal on the air flow flapper. On the left side you can see the original factory tab for the normal set-up. I added the same type of set-up on the reverse side due to the reversed action of the car controller cable movement. Someone talked about mounting it from the top. This just seemed easier to me. This picture is taken from the floor looking up at the bottom of the heater ductwork.

The other picture shows the adaptor bracket need to install the car heater in the truck. This same piece is used to install an AC controller in the truck. Notice the empty holes at the edges are the same distance apart as the normal truck heater control. I think the adaptor comes from the car as well as from the truck.

Also thanks for the comments on my 67 cig. lighter and radio knobs. Nobody noticed the Hand Throttle w/67 knob
