Inside door seal channel

Ok, I took off the drivers side inside door panel on my truck, it has doors from a '72, to replace some parts inside the door and line with sound deadener. The LMC book shows a foam seal (2 sided foam sticky tape) that goes on the door between the door and the panel.

There was not a foam seal when I took off the panel, but there was a plastic bag sheet glued more to the inside of that channel.

Does the foam seal go in this channel? Thanks for any help.

Re: Inside door seal channel

The foam strip would go there. The strip is very necessary for the 67-71metal panels but I have not seen it on the 72 doors which have molded plastic panels. I am not sure if the factory put the strips on or not but it would not hurt to stick the strips on.
