questions about babymoons...

so i want to go with some rallys with babymoons but had a couple questions.

are all baby moons the same size and can fit all rallys?
also where is the best place to find some wider rallys for the rear?

thanks!

Re: questions about babymoons...

No the baby moons are not all the same. At least two different styles of attaching to the wheel. Inner snap on and outter snap on style ... depends on the wheel of course.

Re: questions about baby moons...

Hey everyone,
I want to paint my stock rally rims flat black and put on baby moons, as I don't have the $ to buy steelies with the right cap mounting configuration, right now. Researching, here and the web, I could not find a definitive answer as to whether it was possible, or caps for our application are available, the general consensus seems to be "no".

Surfing eBay I came across this adaptor kit and sent the seller a note:

Note:
Q: Hello. Can this kit be used to attach baby moon hub caps to stock Chevy 5x5 Rally wheels? Thanks.

A: Hi. We have been told by some customers that it has worked, although we cannot guarantee that they will fit. There are many variants of those caps. - 510mike

Seems promising, but I can't afford to gamble the money to try them, just yet.

If anyone else takes the chance, please, share your experience.

Hope this helps.

Re: questions about babymoons...

Hey crazy,
Just saw your steelies in your other thread. You already have caps that look like the inside-mounting type, to me. I thought, from your description, that you had the rallys with the bolt mounted center caps, like I do. Have you seen these moons?

They look like they just might work for you. And they would look pretty sweet.

Re: questions about babymoons...

Rallies are all a bolt on center cap. They do not have the nubs to mount baby moons. I have done a ton of research on this, since it's what I want to run. I did find one write up and have lost the link in a computer crash. The guy cut the barrel off of a stock rally bolt on cap and drilled it and installed old school spring clamps for early hubcaps and was running dog dish hubcaps with them. I have the center caps but have not been able to find reasonably priced spring clips to experiment with. Just what I have found for a resolution to this problem. IIRC the one write up I saw was on a mid fifties truck but they were the rallies like most run on our trucks.
