I've been Cross Pollenated!!! New Project!

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to be getting a new project, but didn't want to jinx myself. Well it's finally home! Say hello to my wife's new Burb!

This was has been for sale by board member Greg Full for several months now. Unfortunately his father passed away before completing it. I spoke to him a few times about it and went to take a look. Greg made me a deal I just couldn't refuse. Thanks goes out to him for being patient with me while I frantically scraped the money together. I went out Saturday to get it and with Greg's help and his son we loaded her up with all the parts that go with her. He has a great family and a wonderful mother. My wife and I really appreciate the opportunity they have given us to get this beauty back on the road. The Burb will eventually replace the Trailblazer towing it in the pics.

Details:
Almost completely rust free 1972 Chevy Suburban C/20, 402BB/th400, Tailgate/Hatch style rear doors, New paint (medium blue metallic), A.C. front and rear, 3 seats, (the front two have been recovered in new blue Houndstooth), all trim is there, just not all installed yet, all door seals are new (not installed), Gauges look completely redone (not installed), Rechromed front and rear bumpers, lights and lenses all new, new wheels and tires, new brake booster/master, new poly tank, gas door installed, new exhaust with dynomax mufflers.

It needs carpet and reassembly. I am spending some time over the next couple of days to replace fluids before cranking it up. I can't wait to get it cranked up!!!! I Guess I am going to need to learn a few things about Big Blocks and Suburbans now! The only plans we have so far is to paint the roof white, and lower it (just a little) using air ride for comfort and towing capabilities.Ohh, and get some regular original style sport mirrors for it. Just a few teaser pics.

Re: I've been Cross Pollenated!!! New Project!

Glad to see someone is going to finish it. I had to talk myself out of it. Price was right, but I just didn't need another, even though it would be tough to build one for what he was asking.

Come-on man, you posted this at 5:30 on a Sunday evening on a holiday weekend....how much can you expect? LOL

Nice BB 'burb BTW
It's nice to have a wife that would even consider that as a DD. It will probably give you a little mileage hit though?

Not only of the nice truck, but also a supportive wife. Mine supports my truck life, but would not even consider driving one everyday.

Congrats man! That's a sharp lookin piece! I was cross-pollenated a while back. Wasn't really sure about the Burb until I started turning wrenches on her. But the massive amount of room inside and the looks I get from people when I tell em I have a '71 burb makes her a keeper!

Even I was only on for about an hour over FOUR DAYS! Shocking, I know!

Great looking blue. It's gonna look great lowered.

If it were mine I'd repaint the black area white or tint all of the windows.

Did you tow it with the hood popped?

Re: I've been Cross Pollenated!!! New Project!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I didn't mean to come across as impatient. I kind of forgot that it was a Holiday. I spent Sunday and Monday changing out the oil and filter, tranny fluid and filter, sparkplugs, and drain/flush the coolant. Unfortunately I had to work today or it would have been running by this evening. While the plugs were out I sprayed some PB Blaster in the spark plug holes and let it sit overnight. After I buttoned up the tranny pan I tried to turn the fly wheel by hand. It turned very easily (with no spark plugs in of course). I was excited to see it wasn't hard to rotate by hand!! I bought a new battery today, and got a new water neck (old one was corroded and had a pin hole in the top housing). All I really have left is add water to the system (only until I verify no leeks, then it gets drained and coolant added), clear the fuel lines, prime the oil pump, and connect the battery. Hopefully it will fire right up. I'm really looking forward to hearing the Big Block!!! I will let you know how it goes!!
Shawn
BTW, the hood was latched down by Bungy cord. The latch wasn't installed yet due to still being on a shelf after it was painted. I will get it installed. I'm hoping to drive it to work either Thursday or Saturday!!!

I saw this one a few months back and it was a great deal for all you got. Glad it worked for you. I already have a burb project my self or I might have concidered it. How do you like towing with your SS? We have an 07 Trailblazer SS but I have not towed my trailer loaded yet.
