Waffling on fuel pump - ideas?
I've got this 1969 292 L6 that I'm working on to be a mild-ish hot rod, pure street unless things go really non-linear.
My current question is about fuel pumps. Right now, it's got the bone stock mechanical one, with the output side being a fitting for a steel line. The first question is, does anyone make a fuel pump for this engine that has banjo fittings so I can go to a rubber 1/4" fuel line? Or, is that a stupid idea and I should stick with the steel line? The second question is, should I even consider an electric fuel pump system for the purposes of this truck, which is just screwing around and making myself grin big? (None of this matters if I can't get the @#$*ing Holley tuned, but since it's probably next in line, I might as well get started on the answers.)

800hp big blocks dont need 3/4"lines to feed them haven't seen a 6 on the street that needed one either
i feel electric pumps are just manufacturing a source for a problem where one doesnt exist// mechanical fuel pumps are one of the most reliable dependable pieces of automotive hardware ever

3/4" fuel line is reallly big, I don't think that the 6cyl could ever handle that much fuel, the biggest I have ever seen is 1/2" on a fully blown 1000hp big block. 3/8"or 5/16" should be all you would ever need.

KISS = Keep It Simple (fill in the blank) is what my grandpa told me,
I always have hated rubber fuel lines, O'rielys here will loan tubing benders and flangers. and I don't have to worry about bursting or wearing out, or even worse some how touching a header or exaust pipe ( If it is possible it will happen to me) Elec fuel pumps are not good in my opinion, unless they are in the tank. and you should not need that unless you are going fuel injected |

I don't have any faith in my ability to bend and flange/flare the line. That's a good point, though. On the 292, the fuel pump is on the passenger side, and the headers are on the driver side, so I'm not worried about super-hot. It does have to route over or around the valve covers.

Just get a nipple screw it in the fuel pump and use rubber fuel line. Then you can add a clear filter. And dont forget to replace the filter in the carb.
