8 lug single rear converting to dual wheel

Hey Guys,

I'm wondering if it's possible to convert my single rear to a dual wheel. What would I need to do this? Or would it be easier to buy a 1 ton dual wheel short wheel base parts truck?

The truck's a 69 longhorn "pictured" so it already has the 1 ton suspension w/ a Eaton. I'm planning on using the bed on this truck for my project longhorn and thinking about converting this truck to a dual wheel stake body. The truck is minus the mtr./trans. and drive shaft.

I was told that short wheel base dual wheel 1 ton truck's drive shaft will interchange with the longhorn. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for any advise...

Rich G.
