My Story and I'm sticking to it 72 K10

Well, I have been lurking here for quite some time . My passion for these trucks started with a 67 short step side c-10 my dad had when I was 5 , first truck I remember riding in . Well dad was coming off the interstate and the rear axle broke and rolled it . Then he bought the 69 that is in my avatar .(man I loved that truck ) Then in 83 he traded it in , I was devastated to say the least ,2 years from getting my license. I turned 18 got my self a 69 K10 long box drove it for 22 years had a stock pile of them, 72 4x4 blazer ac , 72 burb 4x4 , 70 c-10 . Loved them all . Sold them all for to help fund the new house on 30 acres of paradise in the mountains south of Butte America

So the story continues , My dream was to own a sort step K10 . I found this truck 15 years ago in a ranchers field . I knew him well and talked to him it was his nephews father in laws. So I called him up asked him if he wanted to part with it . He wanted to but it was sentimental to his wife ( understandable ). Well once or twice a year I would run into him or call him to ask about the truck and the answer was always the same . Then last fall out of the blue he called and said it was mine . Same price I offered him 15 years prior. Name: 20151019_153121.jpg

So it begins I will keep posting pics on this build to catch you up ,It is ready to go to paint in about a week or two . I'll finish my story first

Well then I bought the Wood Truck as I call it a 72 K20 some one stuffed a 454 in it . It has been used but I love it Name: 20151019_153121.jpg

Size: 47.3 KBI'll get a better pic for you guys later

I was looking for a 2wd for the cab and body for the Wood Truck when I noticed this on craigslist . So I took a 2 hour drive with a buddy to look at it and fell in love as soon as I seen it . Ran and drove like a dream . So it will be my DD on Fridays and the weekends 69 C20 , 396 camper special it is beautiful My wife even likes it She even named it the Renegade ( Styx was on the radio singing Renegade that's where the name comes from)Here she is ,Well it says I am missing a security Token I'll try later

Re: My Story and I'm sticking to it 72 K10

Here are a few pics of the hydraulic clutch assembly , I went with the advanced adapters bellhousing and adapter for the 205 TC . I bought the whole tranny and adapter set up from Midwest Transmissions . Also the slave is a stock GM slave and a Wilwood master . I forgot to take a pic with the cab on with the set up . I basically used a Hiem joint and welded an ear on the clutch pedal. There was a thread on here some where that done the same thing . I can not remember which one though. Name: 20160531_062027.jpg

Re: My Story and I'm sticking to it 72 K10

The fuel tank I ordered from GMC Pauls ( I ordered about 3500 dollars from them and I can not say enough about the quality and the customer service absolutely awesome) I ordered the fuel pump from Tanks Inc. It has a baffle included . Here are some pics of the install. Also I ditched the straps and used 4 hockey pucks took a 2" hole saw cut them out , drilled a hole through the center , added a steel sleeve about a 1/8" shorter than the pucks and used grade 8 bolts . The big reason was with the fuel lines coming out of the top of the tank they would be to tall . So this way it lowers the tank about an inch . All I have to worry about is the one piece for the wood bed I will have to relocate Name: 20160416_112547.jpg

Re: My Story and I'm sticking to it 72 K10

So these pics will get everyone caught up on my progress. It will be tough to keep rolling this summer (sons baseball and we have loads of jobs to do )But I am on a mission . Just talked to my motor guy to get him moving (he is good but slowwww to say the least ). Like I said in an earlier post it will be the original block 383 stroker balanced lower end , full roller cam and rockers with vortex heads FiTech Fuel injection ( granted it ships the 16th like they said ,ordered it 3 months ago ). Will be ordering headers and serpentine setup later this week . I bought a 4 core aluminum radiator and duel fan setup from Brothers . The truck sits proud in the rear end with the new springs might remove a leaf . I know its tough to tell but what are your thoughts , I am thinking on 33x10.5 for tires , still up in the air on wheels . I am leaning twards black or grey . Paint will be a maroon color . I had a 2010 chevy with that color and I loved it ( plus it is GRIZ colors )Name: 20160605_164858.jpg

Subbed. Im diggin your build, most of the things you're doing to your truck are what I'd like to do to my 71' eventually.

Well another week half gone and my motor is still not complete . Received a text from the guy Saturday ,said he was working on the heads.

Nice! I'd like to see more about the NV4500 too. Thought of staying manual shift with mine but haven't been able to find a decent priced transmission.
