Wiper Arm/Blade combo

Hi, I am getting close to finishing my build in the signature and am trying to figure out which wiper blades and arms to get. I have a set of arms and tried trico 33-122 blades and they don't look right or feel right on the arm. The arms are a s shape the end and the blades clear that but don't feel positive. I don't want a blade to come off and scratch a new windshield. What combo is everyone using? Thank You Steve

Re: Wiper Arm/Blade combo

That is the "correct" blade if you are restoring the truck to original but I rather have to agree with you in that it may not be what you now want. Looking up 12 inch wiper blades most of them have a steel frame no matter if they are black or metal color though.

Sometimes unless you have electric wipers the vacuum wipers won't handle more drag from stronger springs in the arms or wiper blades that have more drag against the windshield. 61 years of driving says that normally if a wiper blade comes apart you should have already changed it months ago.

Look up rear wiper 12 inch. Almost all modern suv use 12 inch blades on rear. You may fine the new arm and blade combo you are looking for.
Local junk yard may have a few arms for cheap if you want to experiment on fitment and how well it drags and wipes. Before committing to new style.

you may find something from heavy equipment also, like a back hoe or a skid steer loader
cruising the pick n pull may be a great idea. check moini vans, suv's etc. havbe the dimensions of your wiper arm mount and take calipers with you

Re: Wiper Arm/Blade combo

I am using the trico blades right now but have ordered some others to try. The problem I have now the blades sit at a angle on the glass. I have to maybe get different arms. Thank you for the replys. Steve

Re: Wiper Arm/Blade combo

The only issue I found while scouring the junk yards is that to get the blade at rest to sit at the bottom of the windshield horizontally, Opposite arms are required. Couldn't find ones to make a pair small enough. I ended up ordering factory reproductions so it had the correct length and bend, with an extra set of blades. They offer different blade mounting options so you can use modern blades. Under $20 a piece. Like mr48 says, "if it falls apart, it should've been changed out long ago".

The blades don't sit Parallel to the windshield. It has to be the angle of the arms. Here is a picture. Steve

Re: Wiper Arm/Blade combo

I think the easy fix is to simply bend the arm. whaddya got to lose it doesn't fit correctly now.
the arms should likely be placed lower as well, before you bend for the final time. the wiper arm should sit just above the rubber and be parallel, with the motor in the parked/offposition. in my books anyway.
they usedto make adjustable wiper arms. have you looked for those? the length and blade angle could be adjusted.
