engine identification

i got a straight 6 and im not sure what it is a 230 or 250... the numbers on the block are 3850817C... any help would be so great cuz i havn't found anything on those numbers after searching... i cant figure out if it is a 230 or 250 and what year it is... thanks

According to Leo Santucci's book "Chevrolet Inline Six-Cylinder Power Manual" that casting number was used for both the 230 and 250 from 66-79. Do you have the engine suffix number? It would be stamped in the block by the distributor mounting pad.
