Can't find right collector seal for Rams Horn
Hi all, I am at my wits end trying to figure out what "donut" goes in the collector of my passenger side rams horn exhaust. I removed them from a '66 Bel air but I'm unsure if they were original. I am also unsure but I think they are 2". I'm trying to find the donut and nuts that should go on these. I keep blowing out anything i install in there. I guess it's hard for me to explain so hopefully the pictures help. Engine is a 283 with Sniper 2 fuel injection '66 C10.
Thanks in advance... |

Some donuts had a short piece of pipe inside the donut. If your manifold is designed for that type, could explain the blowouts. The tail end of the short pipe fits into the exhaust pipe to help guide the hot gases past the donut seal.

Re: Can't find right collector seal for Rams Horn
If your outlet looks like these, it looks like the drivers side had a donut, and the passenger side had a heat riser. There would have been a flat gasket between the heat riser and the manifold, then a donut between the rider and the pipe.
We always took a donut and expanded a piece of pipe inside the donut. This would stop it from blowing out. If you are not running the riser, then there is a half donut with a flat on one side you can use. That looks like the side that is blowing out int he picture. https://www.ebay.com/itm/314936033277 In this picture, you can see it is flat on one side and has a metal sleeve in the gasket. The sleeve will slide into your manifold. https://www.ultrarvproducts.com/1502...ut-Seal-Gasket |

I bought these for my 2" from Rock Auto https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...&pt=5836&jsn=7
I couldn't fit the expanded piece of pipe inside the donut on the passenger side. Not enough room to lower exhaust, hits cross member for transfer case. Studs and brass nuts I got from local supplier. |

Thanks everyone. I'm still researching. I asked a shop for some help and he found one of these. Does this look right? This would take the place of the riser.

Yes, that looks about right. You will need a flat gasket between the manifold and that piece.

Re: Can't find right collector seal for Rams Horn
I remember seeing that the passenger side has a half doughnut into the manifold. Driver's side was a full doughnut. (I used two driver's side manifolds on mine so I could use a full doughnut on both sides.)
EDIT: I posted the details on this site... https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=846677 Not exactly what you're doing, sometimes seeing a family of parts and part numbers will lead you to the right area for yours.
