You gonna find a donor roof? That's not gonna be an easy repair if you have to re-use it.

Re: Top removal 63 C-20

That 64 top should fit your 63 cab. That rust does not look to bad in the pictures. I have seen MUCH worse...

A word of advise, in case you don't know. Before you weld your new roof on your cab, cover up all your glass really well, particularily the windshield. Weld spatter will stick to glass.

Re: Top removal 63 C-20

I'm gonna be pulling dents outta the top of my roof...Doesn't seem rotted up there...there is some type of "sealant" in the gutters around the cab.
Glad your able to find a new top for a good price.

Re: Top removal 63 C-20

If you look at the '67 thread in my sig line, you can see I did a similar thing with my C20.

We painted the inside with rust paint, put some new sound deadener down, and glued a new top from a donor on (except for the back where we welded).

Re: Top removal 63 C-20

Yeah - I used the top of a cab that was destined for recycle anyway too.

You could probably glue that whole thing.

Re: Top removal 63 C-20

Looks like that stuff is doing a good job on the rust. Those smaller holes should not be too hard to repair since you have the skin off.

Looks good!

Re: Top removal 63 C-20

Thanks for all the photos of this, I'm going to be tackling a similar project at some point soonish(dent repair rather than rot) and these are helping let me know what I might be in for.

Do you know what kind of acid that is? As it seems to be doing a hell of a job.
