Thinking of purchasing a '72

Called about a 72 3/4 ton C10 I saw for sale. 350 V8. Rebuilt front end, new alternator and radiator. Manual with granny gear. Only rust is on lower cab corners, and it is not through. Asking $1800. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Here's a pic.

Welcome to the board from Washington State!
Where are you from?
Looks like a nice truck! At least from that photo.
I ask where you are from, because that matters on the price of a truck.
A truck in that nice of condition in the "Rust Belt" would be a steal.
Out here in the North West where I live, you could probably find nice trucks like that all day long for less than 2K.
That does look like a fairly nice ride though.
What are you looking for?
A work truck? Or somthing to customise / restore?
I ask because if you want a truck to lower a bit and fix up as a nice cruiser, and not a work truck, I'd suggest a 1/2 ton. They a re a bit nicer to rod, or use a cruiser. Now I hope the guys on here with 3/4 tons don't flame me.

Darren

I'm from Tennessee. Looking for a work truck, with the thought of eventually restoring to original condition.

3/4 tons make awesome work trucks. That's what I use mine for, but I'm kinda restoring it while I drive it. That truck looks really straight for only $1800, that's a helluva deal there.

If you like the truck and it seems good and solid, and most if not all stuff is working properly, I'd say go for it. These are great trucks and easy to work on, and they really do tend to grow on you! btw, a 3/4T 2wd would be a C20; C10 is a 1/2 T. 4wd are K models instead of C, but there are no K badges on them. Oh, and welcome to the board! If you don't buy that truck, I hope you'll find another to buy.

If it's as solid as you say, I'd say it's a good buy. I'd still try to talk them down some anyway though, just to see if I could get it at a better price.

Thought I would follow up in case anyone else wants it. Decided to pass on this one. It needs new cab corners and rockers. He's riveted on aluminum over the rusty rockers. Floorboards, fenders and bed look solid. Has 169,000 miles. No tailgate. Number is 423-422-1608

Welcome to the Board.Your 1st mistake, don`t think!Just buy!You can think about it later when you`re spending every available dollar and every free minute on it.Your wife or girlfriend might get mad at you more often and question your rationality. But hey, you`ve got us.Think of us as your GM truck support group.
