Crew70,
That stinks! Hope everything works out for you. Be careful on the roads as we have no equipment to remove snow or ice. You might see an occasional sanding truck for the bridges, but other than that, most people stay home on days like today. 67ChevyRedneck-It's got to be the 99 suburban 5.7 listed in his signature. In-tank fuel pump requires draining and dropping the tank. Lotsa labor and the parts aren't free either! (Just had one done myself!) Merry Christmas!

Hey Crew.. It doesnt seem to be sticking too much.. people are driving normal speeds. The ground is too warm for it to be too bad. What dealership are ya at?

Mike, it must feel like home to you with the slippery roads. We had ice pretty bad a few mornings ago. FYI, the receipt in the glove box of my 2001 burb was for $1200. All it had on it was a fuel pump, labor, and a tow. It better not go out again while I own it!

Steve pretty much covered it. Last year was the first real "snow" storm that I can remember. Most of the time it's just ice and it's a real PITA to drive. I think I'm about ready to head for the house myself. Merry Christmas!

Yeah you picked an unusual day to break down in TX. Its the only snow weve seen all year here in DFW and probably the last. We only had snow ONE DAY last years and that was on Valentines day.

Bummer you went to a dealer for that fuel pump job. They charge WAY too much.
Even with GM parts, we only charge something like 500 -600 bucks for the job. |

I thought the only way one of those fuel pumps go out is if you run the tank low on gas?

i had the fuel pump go out in my 99 astro this summer and thanks to the guys on this board they pointed me to a website where i could buy gm one for 350 bucks...which was still way over priced as far as i was concerned. i have a friend thats a mechanic and i gave him a hundred bucks to drop the tank and put in the new pump.

Green machine, GM fuel pumps are junk. They'll go out at any given time. It's one of the many reasons GM is making it hard to be a loyal fan these days.

Yes it is true. It was almost 70 here on Tuesday and it snowed on Wednesday. It is the only state I know of where " If you dont like the weather stick around a minute it will change " should be the state motto. Supposed to be back in the 50/60 range on Sunday.

A few years back in February we started the month with an ice storm, followed the next week by two days in the high 90s, the wrapped-up the month with another ice storm.

I got lucky! feul filter was plugged. I stopped at a parts store and thought about changing it in the parking lot for $6.99 butt opted to have it to it towed to the dealer and pay $178.00 to have it changed. Its not the dealers falt ,Its mine.I should have just got dirty and full of gas and saved $171.00.well we made it down to Misson texas finally.man what a drive.even with out the mistake in directions that took use 100 miles out of our way.we put on 1776 miles in the last three days with three little kids.
