60-66 Small Block Headers for 500 to 600 hp

What's everyone making serious small block power running for headers? I'm not having any luck finding 1 3/4" primary tube headers. Are custom headers the only option.

Re: 60-66 Small Block Headers for 500 to 600 hp

I have run a few different headers. 73-87 chevy truck headers work if you use tubular engine perches like the ones from CPP. Altho I personally am running the Schoenfeld camaro (part number 186-3) headers in my truck for lack of options with angle plug heads. Is a tight fit but they work. I am using the tubular engine perches and tranny crossmember from CPP with them. Hope this is helpful.

Check with Hedman and Doug's...I'm pretty sure they offer header part numbers for SBCs with 1.75" primaries.

Hedman's says a custom set will be the only option, Doug Thorley same, still trying to connect with Doug's headers. Thanks, even the parts store guys are coming up with nothing.

Thanks Rannos, Schoenfeld looks like a winner.

That appears to be the solution, I needed to hear from someone who has done it. Slooter on here did just that, knowledge is power. thanks

Hedmann lists the same 1 3/4" primary tube headers for the '67-'72's as for the '73-'87's.

Re: 60-66 Small Block Headers for 500 to 600 hp

for big horsepower small blocks use the Schoenfeld hi-velocity step headers #116V 1 3/4" - 1 7/8" tubes and 3 1/2" x 9" collectors link-http://www.schoenfeldheaders.com/drag.htm a really good performance header, drivers side is close but will clear pass side has plenty of room

Thanks Captain, that appears to be the one I need. Another poster named Slooter is running them. I was trying to find someone who has them on their truck before I order them. Thanks for the post and leg work. Schoenfeld may have one also, they don't take email so I have to phone or fax them. That's the cool thing about this site, learn from others before you lay down your bread, I'm not doing anything unique. Also this truck is kinda rare around here, but almost common in the States (many more people and rust free projects), the knowledge goes deep. Later

There was also another thread about large tube headers today in the 'Racing and High Performance' section. Schoenfeld was mentioned there also.

Edit: Never mind.....I now see that, that was you.
