my CL score

I usually don't get SUPER lucky on CL, and there is hardly ever any decent 73-87 parts to be had in my area. I stumbled across this, and will be picking it up tonight. Tailgate was removed when truck was purchased to allow camper install...been in storage ever since! COmes with all mounting hardware too.

I really like the GMC gates, with the embossed lettering in the upper left. The alum panel on this thing is perfect too. You don't see too many early GMC gates, so I thought I would share with you guys.

Re: my CL score

Jeff, what year did they put the GMC emblem in the upper left hand corner? CL Minneapolis? Darn, missed it. Good score.

Good things come to good people. Congrats! Is it "garage wall art" or do you have a plan for it?

Re: my CL score

Thanks Keith, and everyone.

The gate will become wall art, unless someone needs it more than me and makes a decent offer.

I didn't get it for free, but paid a very fair price...one too good to pass up.

It is now in my possesion, and is as nice as the pics show.

Yeah wall art is what I was thinking myself.
That will be priceless in ten years, and I'll bet you only paid $50 for it.

Re: my CL score

Very nice.

I have 3 take off tailgates. Only 1 came with the brushed panel though. I paid a pretty penny for them too. Sure will be worth it when one gets bashed in some day.

Re: my CL score

Man, what did they do to that thing, take it off the truck when they got it home from the dealer and wrap it in bubble wrap and stuff it in the attic?

They took it off, but I doubt the bubble wrap. It has its fair share of shelf wear...luckily not on the band.

Re: my CL score

I've NEVER seem a tailgate with the GMC emblem placed like that. Looks like 73-80 and Sierra Classic trim level, but other than that I've never seen anything like that. What year is that from ?

I'm pretty sure it is too. You can tell by the way the nubs stick out up top on the latches. I think they did away with those in late 76.

73-74. The 75s are like the later ones. (Based on my Gentleman Jim)

As far as showing you mine, I'll get some pics. I just brought the stuff I've had stored in my uncles shop for the last three years up to my new shop last weekend and it's still on the trailer. Two of them are buried in there.
