Are gas fill necks worth a small fortune?

There is one on ebay right now with a BIN of $225. (you'll have to find it yourself so I this thread doesn't break the rules and stays a discussion) Are they really worth that much? I gave one away a while back. The covers seem fairly simple and could be made fairly easily. If they are worth $225, wouldn't it be advantageous for someone to start making them?

Re: Are gas fill necks worth a small fortune?

Sounds like the guy was just trying to sucker someone into "thinking" it is worth that. Was $225 the starting bid?

Re: Are gas fill necks worth a small fortune?

Maybe there is just an extra 2. $25 would seem more resonable.

Re: Are gas fill necks worth a small fortune?

Way to much. Supply and demand makes the prices rise. If people need it they will pay whatever it takes.

Re: Are gas fill necks worth a small fortune?

Sounds like I need to do a gas filler door mod and sell my stock stuff. At that price it will pay for the mod!

Re: Are gas fill necks worth a small fortune?

Its an auction marketing strategy. Use a high BIN and a lower reserve because most bidders have no intention of buying they just bid up the items for fun and stop within a certain price of a BIN knowing it wont go over the reserve. Well if the bidder doesnt know what the item is worth then they bid just to make someone who really wants or needs it pay more, but all of a sudden the reserve is met.
