87 exhaust manifold
Does anyone know the difference between the 1987 exhaust manifolds and the 1988 -1995 manifolds for a 5.7 L TBI 4X4 ? Several of the major suppliers have a part number that is specific to 1987, then a different part number for 88-95?
I need new manifolds for my GM crate engine because my old ones have shrunk to much to be re-used. (The Goodwrench engine is built to be like a 1994, I was told). I want to transfer all of the plumbing from my 1987 but don't know what exhaust manifolds to buy. They look the same in the photos. Thanks |

Re: 87 exhaust manifold
87's dump in a different place than 88 and up. on 88 which is a different chassis the passenger side dumps towards tha back I think? and the drivers side dumps straight down between the 3 and 4th port. Or #5 and #7 if you want to get technical. : )

Re: 87 exhaust manifold
Thanks dadsbrew... I see the difference now. The left (drivers) side manifold outlet is directed more to the ground. I'm going to need the 87 manifold to match my stock exhaust.
