What did you get done?

Sorry for getting this up so late. It been a pretty hectic day. I guess it's better late than never.
I had another insanely busy week that I won't bore you with must of the details.

One of the highlights was have a busted water pipe the same morning that the temps dropped and the wind was blowing like mad. Nothing like kneeling in cold water and mud trying to repair a busted water pipe so you can turn the water on to take a shower.

I did get some good news this week. I talked to Roger at Stoked Out and he said my 77 is finished. He has to adjust the tv cable, but it's ready to be picked up. It looks like the first chance I get will be mid April.

Hopefully I will be able to go check it out and have it ready for it's first show in late April....

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

Sounds like you needed the shower by the time you were done fixing it

I finally started on my suspension. I mounted my front tank and valves and rear tank. I also pulled the plywood out, it was mounted over the Jimmy's floor. I thought it would be horrible under the plywood, but it really wasn't too bad.
I also pulled the snow tires off my wife's Saturn. I got some family time in too.

Oops, I was trolling the wrong board! Oh well, it's still progress right?

We don't discriminate here. Trucks are trucks regardless of the year. Feel free to post progress on any project you have...

Re: What did you get done?

I got the new blazer cleaned up some and bought a new battery and cables for it. This week I'll work on getting it up and running to see how it runs.

Re: What did you get done?

Sat am I went 'yarding' looking for some parts. Nothing scored, but it was fun to get out & look around on a beautiful morning.

On my way home, I stopped by the shop & cleaned up what's left of the old timing tab after cutting most of it off to clear the now SWP set-up on the little 350 rebuild for my Beater. A couple coats of fresh paint & it looks pretty decent. While I was there, I also blasted the master cyl/booster brackets & they got the same color treatment.

I did some more planning & organization on the re-assembly of the Beater & prepped the front frame stub for some chassis black before everything gets put back together. It gets pressure washed sometime this week.

Today I helped a buddy swap some wheels around on several vehicles & then drag an elcamino home to his shop. It hadn't been started in who knows how long but after some juice & a battery, it started right up.

Re: What did you get done?

Pull down your driver side windshield visor & see if it says 'full time 4x4' shifting instructions on it ? You may want to go through all the gears near home so you don't fing out something is wrong far from home and have to get towed back. Just a suggestion.

Re: What did you get done?

You should have got a red one...
That looks pretty good considering the pic quality.

Its a little too red for me, but I can change that. I've been looking for one for a few years and have yet to find one that is exacly like I want it, but thats OK because I'll just build it like I want it. This is a nice start.

Re: What did you get done?

well i was home from school on the weekend to finish my truck up and i snapped a few pics. Got the 350 running real nice and took it for a spin and the performance was less then desireable. So I decided to look into what rear end i have and its a 2.56:tdown:. So im going to go for a 3.73 but im not sure if i am going to buy a complete 3.73 rear end from another vehicle or swap out the gears. My rear end says GM82. I know the GM8 means 2.56 and does the 2 mean 2 series carrier?

Re: What did you get done?

I replaced my power steering pump. Hopefully that will take care of the last leak on my truck. I have said that before, though, and something else has always started leaking.

I guess I have been fortunate in that I have never had a PS pump go out on any car ever. It was a lot more work to replace than I expected, especially since I had a broken bracket, a cracked bracket, and a bent pulley. The joys of working on old junk, eh?

Everything that could go wrong, did. I made a huge mess in the driveway.

Now I get to start working on a carb. The one on my truck is junk, and the Edelbrock 1904 I want has been discontinued. I am hoping to find one still in stock somewhere. If anyone knows of a business that still has NEW 1904s in stock, I would appreciate it if you would share their info. If I can't find one, I guess I will go with an Edelbrock 1406.

Re: What did you get done?

Got all of the bed panels prepped and ready to hang for paint. Cleaned up the shop(paint booth) and got some of the body work dust out of there! Sheesh that's messy. Hopefully will finish those this week.

After all that I loaded up the 67 Nova for a trip to the state patrol today for an inspection for the lost title. Should be fun

Re: What did you get done?

Saturday I put on some new Moog sway bar "D" bushings and sway bar end links. Of course they didn't list the 1 5/16" bar for the Interceptors so I had to guess and luckily the 2000 Suburban 2500 has that same bar size. Also repositioned the driver coil because it had worked it's way crooked in the lower contral arm cup.

Sunday I cleaned up some more brush and threw a bunch of old junk away that was taking up space on the back porch.

Re: What did you get done?

Made a little more progress:

Got the ECE engine mounts in on Tuesday.
Friday 17th: Gathered up items to take to the shop. Picked up a Pinout sheet for the PCM (only to find out it was the wrong one on Sunday)

Saturday 18th: and took a load of missed items up to the shop and started putting the steering together. Put the front brake lines on. Cinched up the stainless caliper lines and found a single stud crossmember that will work with the trans mount and the turbo app. Pulled the exhaust pipes off the manifolds, removed the compressor, removed the EGR, Torque converter, starter and put the ECE engine mounts on and dropped it into the mounts and it fits rather nicely. Rremoved the cab from the frame and positioned the trans in for mockup so we have an idea on what we are going to do for fuel lines. Pulled the bed back off so we could re-mount the Blazer tank back in the frame and get everything laid out for routing of the fuel lines and so we can notch the cross sill to clear the top of the blazer tank. We also are laying out the routing of the fuel fill.

Sunday 19th: Since nothing was open, I picked up a transmount and fuel filter. Got the transmount cleaned up and mounted it up to the trans and drilled the holes in their new location. Pulled the fuel lines off and removed 90% of the harness from the Engine. Once it was off we started pulling the harness apart to trace all the wires (several were cut and missing the ends) Once we got everything laid out I realized that they gave me the 2WD version instead of the 4x4 version.

Pictures can be seen here:
