Can someone explain to me how an electic choke works
Hey guys thinking about getting an Edelbrock 1406 with an electric choke? I was just wondering how that really works, would my manifold need an EGR valve or what to run the electrical choke?

you dont need egr, you hvae a pre 73 truck, no egr on vehicles prior to 73

From an end user standpoint, the main difference between an elctric choke and a regular one is the elctric one goes from fully closed to fully open in a set amount of time. It takes X minutes, which is adjustable on most. The regular thermostatic choke is dependeant on actual temperature, as it uses engine heat to unwind the bi-metal coil. On cold days, my regular choke can take 15 minutes to go fully open, where an electric choke would be however many minutes I set it to every time.

in wihich i consider a plus, cuz them damn bi-metal spring chokes take forever to unwind,...
