Vacuum booster recommendations?

I need to put power brakes on my '62...Already have the 2 circuit master cylinder from a "78 and front end is "78 disc. Rear is Oldsmobile 12 bolt with 11"x2" drum brakes. I don't have a ton of room as my PCM for the 5.3 is mounted on the inner fender close to where the booster goes. Maybe a 7"?

Re: Vacuum booster recommendations?

IF you have room, the dual diaphragm 8" from Pirate Jack is a good way to go. They have ones that have runs in the paint for pretty cheap. Ive had them on a couple cars, including my 61, and they work great. I have it mounted to a Captainfab bracket....

Or if you're Cheap like me I picked up a dual diaphragm vacuum booster from a 1993 Chevy Astro Van at Pick N Pull it's about 8" in dia. and it was $23.00 but the newer Astro's use hydro boost rather than a vacuum system. Just a thought.

Re: Vacuum booster recommendations?

There is a list of compatible boosters in post #183 on page 8 of my for sale thread for my '63-'66 booster brackets. I'm not sure if that same list is in the '60-'62 standard booster bracket for sale thread, I believe it is. Are you running an auto trans or a manual trans?

Re: Vacuum booster recommendations?

Then this is the booster bracket you will need.

The list of compatible boosters is in post #70. That list also comes with every booster bracket.

Re: Vacuum booster recommendations?

Thanks guys I think I will get an s10 or blazer style as the local pick and pull is full of them. I have the donor truck's booster but it is too large...(2000 Sierra)
I be calling on the captain for a bracket...
