1951 chevy 3800 1 ton front wheel bearings.

Does anyone know if there is a tapered roller bearing available for the front hubs on my 3800 series 1 ton truck?????. The factory bearing is the funny roller ( ball) bearing style -like the half ton. I know that there are drop in bearings to replace these on a 1/2 ton from several companies, just wondered if anyone knew of such a set of bearings for the 3/4 -1 ton front hub. Did I mention how expensive those ball bearings are??? Also got informed that the roller bearing will not do very well with the loads that my disc conversion will put on them.

I guess a guy would almost need to call and confirm, because this website http://www.classictruck.com/category...Wheel_Bearings shows pics of rollers, but describes them as ball, and says they're for the 3/4 and 1 tons. IDK????

Another place to call??...

If you live in near a metro area you might find a distributor dealer for Timken Bearings. You can take in you old one and they can cross reference and find one for you. I haven't used them for 15 years but they always were cheaper than buying them from a parts place.

Ok , here is the information I just got from American Classic Truck Parts. .They dont have any of those bearings in stock , and I got the impression that they wont restock them. However- Dave- He actually knows how to treat a potential customer-Gave me the actual numbers from a company known as Allied Bearing Supply. The outer bearing ( the same for the 3/4 and 1 ton ) is part # B-25-R or another # he gave which was 909025R. The inner # is B-26-R. He didnt have an optional number on it . The inner is different between the 3/4 and the 1ton. Dave also told me they might not sale to a individual- wholesaler I guess-. The # is 1-800-421-3658. I did call my partsman and he said he would call in the morning and get the whole story . You will know when I know .Thanks

Turns out the B-25 -R, and the B-26-R are ball bearings also -Had to cross refrence them from a supply house out of Tupelo MS . THey are not tapered rollers- Just a replacement ball bearing . LMD
