New member of the family

I sold my ‘69 K5 Blazer recently and decided to call a guy about a car I have been interested in for a few years. When I had my ‘65 GTO, I parked next to this car a few times as we were in the same class. Spoke with the owner and put his number in my phone. Called him and made a deal. 1962 Impala SS with a 409 4 speed. It was a frame off several years ago, and still looks fresh. Spoke to the engine builder prior to purchase. Built as a 425 hp (engine is a 1963 QB block) and he told me it was a no money spared build up. Sounds awesome and drives nice. Waiting for my DMV appointment to put it on the road. I’m truckless for now, but I am sure I’ll do another one in the future.

That is one of the nicest cars you could have. Just missing AC but I bet you could just roll down the windows and punch it!

Re: New member of the family

Thanks all for the nice comments. It's funny how we gain an affinity for a particular car or engine. When I was a kid, my Dad had a '59 impala with a 348. Black with a red interior. I thought that car and engine were the best things out there. In High School, a local younger guy ( a few years older than me - out of HS and working) had a red '62 SS with a 409 4 speed. I just loved the sound and sight of that car as he pulled out and ran through the gears past my house on a daily basis. I'd stop what I was doing and watch him until the car disappeared. So, I have had it in the back of my mind for a long time that I needed a W block car. It has taken a long time and a circuitous route to end up with one. Can't wait to drive it.
