ball joints

the ball joints on 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton have different part numbers. What is different? Will 3/4 joints fit 1/2 ton arms? Is the difference the size of the spindle mount or is the whole joint bigger? If one were to say, make a 1/2 ton a 3/4 ton or visa versa is the joint all that needs changing or the whole arm? Anyone done this? I could go to the parts store with my measuring calipers but I'm asking first before I dive into this question.

Re: ball joints

correct, the 3/4 ton and 1 tons have the same balljoint number and the whole balljoint body is larger as well as the tapered shaft. however the control arm dimensions are the same on all those trucks. so you can swap in the arm you need for the spindle you need.

Re: ball joints

Yep, that means a different spindle for the 3/4 ton. The control arms are interchangable, but you may notice some additional reinforcement on them for 3/4 ton. That's the same for the trailing arms if you have a sprung rear.
