TH350 to 700R4
I am wanting to swap to the 700R4 in my '71, can you point me to what is needed for this swap, I have the trans, what else?
This is a stock '71 with 83k miles on it. I feel sure that a stock 700R4 should last behind this old mill...thanks! ------------------ '71 Cheyenne 83K Original Miles.

If you've got the trans and converter, all you need to do to install it is move the trans x-member back about 2 inches... you'll see exactly how much once you get the trans bolted to the motor. Then just mark and drill new holes.
If you want the trans to lock-up for hiway driving, you need the proper wiring... I think jegs or summit sells a lock-up kit... get an external trans cooler while you're at it, your 700 will thank you for it. The most important thing is to make sure your TV cable is adjusted properly... I set mine to max out at WOT and have had no problems... If your 350 has 9 inch tail, you'll be ok, but I'd be REAL SURE THE TV CABLE STUFF IS DONE RIGHT, or you could be putting your 350 back in.

The TV cable should be left to a pro....that or go buy the oil pressure guages and fittings and read up on it.
The TV controls more than kick down, it also does fluid pressure and shift points along with firmness. If it isn't done right, it'll go out in 2500 miles or so. Your drive shaft should be needing shortened too. You'll have no speedo onless you can find the conversion kit. I had a link, but lost it. It has an electric speedo, and ours is not. Did I forget anything? ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350.
