I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on tires and am going to be putting the size tire in the title on a set of 17x8 soft 8's with 4in backspace. The truck has been lowered 2.5in in the front via spindles and has 2in drop in the rear with shackles. I know I will need spacers in the rear so they are not so tucked in. In your experience will I have a problem in the front?

Not sure on your fitment issues, sorry. That size tire isn't made by too many manufacturers. I ran the Rikens and wasn't very happy with them. They were cheap but they would flat spot overnight it seemed. They would ride rough for 5-10 miles then they were ok. I am now running Kumhos and am happy with them.

I had Rikens on a 80 Camaro I sold to buy this truck. I know what you mean about the flat spotting.

Re: 255/50/17

I don't think you will have any problems. I ran a set of 255/70/15 on a 4 inch drop and they rubbed a few times on the upper fender well taking large bumps, but wasn't bad.

The 255/70/15 are 29"x10". The 255/50/17 are 27"x10. I currently am running 235/70/15 (front) which are 28"x9.3" and have had no problems with the rubbing.

Hope this helps. You could probably run a little bigger tire for a better ride.

I also think the back spacing on the Rally's rims I am using is 4", you may want to put them on with out the spacers first.

Re: 255/50/17

Thanks for your input. Maybe I will go to a 55 series.

Re: 255/50/17

The soft 8's actually have a 4.5 backspace. So, I think I'm going to run a 1 inch spacer and ago with a little bigger tire. The fronts I think I will be alright. Thinking of a 245/55/17 up front and a 265/60/17 out back.

I think Boatpuller is running a similar size to that with his 17s

Re: 255/50/17

I am planning 17's or 18's after I get the body work finished. I want a little meat on the rim for ride quality. Curious to how they look, please post pics when you get em on.
