I believe that the only R and V series trucks made from 88-91 were K5's, Suburbans, and 1 ton cab & chassis. The 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton pickups were all the "new" body style. At least I think thats how it is.

'95's were still TBI, vortecs (port injection) started in '96.
I don't recall for sure, but I think, starting in '88, they made duallys in the new body style, available in regular and extended cab. (Not real sure if you could get 'em in '88 or if they came later) If you wanted four doors, you got the "old" body style.

Close, but not quite. The 1/2 and 3/4 ton did change in 88 to the new body style. The 3/4 ton crewcabs, and "all" 1 tons were still the "classic" body style till 92....

Joe you are correct on 96 being the first year for the port injected (Vortec) motor. They changed to the newer style dash and seats in 95, but the Vortec motor was not available till 96....

Actually, GMCJoe has it right. The crewcabs, blazers and subs were the only ones that made it all the way to 91 with the old body style. Duallys and non crew cab one tons came out on the new body style starting in 1988 with the rest of the pickups.

Here are a couple for sale:

Ooops, I left something out. That was supposed to say and "all" 1 ton crewcabs were still the "classic" body style till 92 since that is what he was asking about..

Yeah, my family's business has a '95 ext cab dually and a '96 crew cab dually, both with 454's. The '96 will run circles around the '95. There's actually been times when pulling a heavy trailer with very little tongue weight that I've fried all four rear tires on the '96 pulling away from a stop!
Of course, our '01 Duramax dually would pull them both backwards. At the same time!

The 1ton crew cab dually was made in the old body style from 1973-1991 (designated as either C=2wd or K=4wd from 1973-1986, from 1987-1991 designated as either R=2wd or V=4wd), the 3/4 and 1ton single rear wheel crew cabs again were made from 1973-1991 (see designations above), however I have been told that pre 1977 4x4 single rear wheel 1tons were not factory built rather they were Napco conversions, therefore they are quite rare (some people call HD3/4tons 1tons).
The First year of MPFI (multi port fuel injection) was 1996 (Vortec). 1987-1995 they were TBI (throttle body injection).
The Blazer/Jimmy, Suburban, 3/4ton crew cab, 1ton reg. cab dually (some of them), 1ton cab and chassis, 1ton single rear wheel crew cab, and finally 1ton dually crew cab remained as "old" body styled trucks from 1988-1991.
