67 Camaro restoration question on a forum that cares

I'm so frustrated trying to get good info for my 67 camaro restoration. I guess I'm spoiled by this forum. So many good guys always willing to help.

Anyway, not a truck question but maybe someone here will have an opinion. The wing window assemblies on my 67 are badly pitted. I either need to get replacements or try to rechrome and piece them back together. Anyone have an opinion on the quality of the reproduction wing window assemblies? This would be for a matching number 67 RS/SS, so I really want to try to not make a mistake with a bad reproduction part.

My first question, are the Camaro Vent window's unique to that model and year?
GM is notorious for reusing the same part in many different GM models. Does the '67 Camaro share a roofline and front window with other models? Firebird? Impala, Lemans? Just asking because it may be easier to find a used replacement in nice shape in a less rare car.

Try looking up the vent window weatherstripping and cross referencing it to see what other models it covers.

He did my wing windows and had them rechromed. I know he does others besides C10.
I was thrilled with mine.

Best bet is to get another oem set in better shape. Aftermarket parts are all the same car truck whatever . Yours most likely can be rechromed but will be more expensive due to the heavy pitting. I ended up getting the OEM vent windows and door handles replated on my Chevelle . They were in good shape had some checking in the chrome but no pits.

The repos lasted about 2 years and started bubbling and pitting . Bumpers are OEM too

The 67 Firebird should be the same. However, since they did away with the vent window in 68, it's a one-year-only production.

He will know what interchanges besides the Firebird or if any other frame might work.

El Paso plating if you decide to get yours rechromed. I may not have the name exactly right, but if you Google El Paso and chrome plating you'll find them.

I put the repops in my my 67 RS/SS when I built it and they were poor quality. The pivot points were very weak and both leaked air when driving. I ended up finding good originals and having them rechromed.

Caddylackn is generally on the right track about things getting re-used on other models....but. It is also right around this time (1967) that this begins to apply.
Cars/trucks older than that were very different from one year to the next.
That said, Camaro and Firebird shared many parts, even more so in later years.
The 1st gen Camaro was only a 3 year run and in keeping with the older way of doing things, they changed quite a bit each year. Looking similar enough to be grouped together, but the body parts were different.
The wing window was a '67 only thing. Starting in '68 they went to a single-piece glass and "Astro-Ventilation" replaced the wing window.

That said, look for a set of OEM parts that are in better shape and have those restored. Aftermarket "Reproduction" parts are usually not so great, especially for "one-year" cars. The volume of sales makes them not popular enough to be worth putting the effort into.

The late 60s early 70s was the time when GM (and others) started doing the multiple year runs of body parts being the same and it grew pretty quickly.
It's as easy as looking at the trucks we are here for.
the 67-72 was a 5 year generation. There were minor changes/updates like the marker light addition in '68, the hood slope change in '69, and a few grilles.
The very next generation (square body 73-87) jumped to 14 years, actually more for Blazers and Suburbans. They must have figured out that this was economically a major win

The car that really wrung out the parts bin would have been the Nova.
The '68 up (into the 80s for some of the models) had Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Buick versions of that same basic platform.

That would be Roger Koop. He does excellent work but has unfortunately been dealing with health issues lately. Might be worth contacting him anyway, maybe he can fix you up.
