help with Hei - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am just putting in my hei distributer. I need to know what wires go where. I have a 68 cst w/350 it is a delco dist and here is my ?
I know the purple wire goes to my starter. I have a white wire also and a green. Where do these go and no the green one is not for my tack. any pics or help please want to get it wired up tommorrow so i can fire the beast up

You need to run a NEW 12ga wire to a switched source (@ the fuse block or ignition switch). Do NOT use the factory coil power wire.

what is the white wire and green one do you know are they important. I think the green one goes to my temp sensor? dont know though

The green is for your temp sensor. The white wire is usually a yellow wire. Originally it runs the same path as the purple wire("S" terminal) except it connects to the + of the coil and the "R" terminal on your starter solinoid. What Piston is telling you is that you will replace this wire because it has a resister built into the first 18" that cuts the voltage to 9 volts at the coil once the starter has disengaged. You don't need this wire at the starter anymore either. Either remove it or tape it up into the harness for the next guy who wants to restore it to 100% original.
