Who has a front license plate - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

and what is the message? State mandated plates not-with-standing.

My 6T9 is a bare naked bumper for the time being.
My last truck had a DuraMax Diesel tag on it.

My...whispering now... ford has a ford tag on it. it came with the truck.

The 67 has the original plate on the front from 1967 when my Great grandpa bought the truck.

The 78 has the mandatory "John Deere" plate since it has the "Commercial Farm Truck" plate in the rear

The 01 has one of those oval plates ;"OKI" for Oak Island NC, from where my wife and I got married.

Texas you will get a ticket if your front plate isnt on...unless you have a reason like "I was just in an accident and it flew off and I cant find it".....yea I know they didnt buy it either.

If the '73-87 guys are allowed to play, then I've had a couple:

I wouldn't normally run one, but it's covering up a couple dents in the front bumper

First one was a "Popular Hot Rodding" plate, leftover from when my car was in the magazine:

The second one is a little more period correct, from back when Chevrolet was billed as "the Number 1 Team"...

Well, I always ran one until I ripped the front bumper off my truck this summer

but I ran a standard 1968 state of Georgia plate for awhile. Before that I had a plate with a big UGA logo on it (as seen in my avatar). I got the 1968 plate from a swap meet and it's a little beat up but not trashed so I thought it fit the look of my truck pretty well.

And no, our terrible past couple football seasons are not an underlying reason or excuse as to why I pulled the UGA plate

In my older vehicles I always put something on hence here in florida we dont use a front plate. In my new vehicle I never put anything on the front bumper...

Oregon makes us have a plate......I tryed to go with nothing but a cop stopped me in a parking lot and said GET ONE......So I submitted and put it on.

In Oregon you have 2 Plates ,,My grandson will show you the front one.. LOL

I believe they run me about $180 for 2 years for the vanity plates

Cops in MD are real touchy about this sort of thing. Gotta have a plate. Can't even put retro plates on without keeping the state ones in the glovebox.

No front plate is issued here in the Northwest Territories.

So no front plates except my 68 C20 that I still have the black and gold California plate showing the trucks heritage.

Having moved back to Texas I have my state license plate. Back when I was living in MS I had a Gadsden Flag plate, long before Tea Partiers discovered it.

Same deal here in Maine. Retro plates have to be a matching numbers front/rear pair too. But the numbers on the retro plates don't have to be recorded or registered with the state ... go figure ?? There's nothing in the law that says they even have to be Maine plates ... just says they have to have matching #'s front/rear and show the year of manufacture that corresponds with the vehicle.

thats wierd. im from eugene and my mom has run a walkin horse plate on the front of her *wispering* ford f-350 dually since she has had it(2001) and has never got stopped for it

I'd wager that she doesn't ever go to down town Portland as the local gendarmes there are hell on wheels about handing out tickets for no front plate and will even ticket vehicles that are parked at the curb for no front plate.

We get nailed here in Washington for no front plate also but the state "collector car" plate only has a rear plate and is a one time thing. There are a few limitations on driving but the main ones for a truck are not carrying a load and not driving it for work. To work on Wednesday locally would pass as there is a Wednesday night cruise night right after work at a local burger joint and there is one at a different place on Friday nights. I don't like front plates on the 48 so I will probably fork over the cash for the Collector plate this time around as the truck is not going to haul anything except duffel bags and a cooler after it goes back together. I'm not a big fan of YOM plates or some others that might bring undue attention to the rig by individuals or groups looking to put more restrictions or taxes on vintage and or modified vehicles. For that reason I'm still pondering running the collector plates.

true, she doesnt. only about twice a year but she stays on I-5

There was a court of appeals opinion from Oregon last year that said it was a traffic crime to drive with only one plate, even if the other were in the windshield. Also, you're not supposed to have anything, even clear plastic, over either plate. But I'll venture to say the Eugene mom has always passed the attitude test. Trust me, when you pull out onto the road, you're committing some moving violation. Fail the attitude test, and the cop will tell you which law which law it was.

I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, in Tucson, AZ from '69-71. I brought my '64 Pontiac Bonneville ragtop with me and licensed it in AZ, and this is the front plate from that car. My younger brother made off with the rear plate. Yeah, this wasn't a truck tag, but you get the point.....

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
