Anyone NOT cover their in cab fuel tank? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I may be able to get the seat back in tomorrow, now that my OCD urge to clean the seat belt bolts is satisfied (and clean those are!).

My original cardboard tank cover is crap.....and some bird got into the garage and pooped on it. Anyone not covering their tank?

*I plan to get a new cover later anyway, when I have the seat reupholstered.

Cover the tank? I'm guessing you have the original glove box as well.

Not that is hasn't already been said but what tank cover? Lol I use the seat in all my trucks to hide it. Got pics of the tank cover?

I have the original cardboard cover, and i carpeted it also. also have the original glove box too ...lol

With a bench seat I can't see why you would bother with a tank cover. With buckets I think its a must. When I swapped in buckets I got a carpet cover and installed it. Didn't fit very well and need modifications to the plastic clips, but I got it in there eventually.

The seat went back in today and I left the cardboard cover out. My cover looks rough and I had birds living in the garage attic two years ago and every once in a while one would end up down into the lower part.....and while there he/she crapped on my cover!

When I have the seat and tank out again to redo the fuel line shutoff valve or to (more likely) repair the big hole in the cab floor, I'll get another cover.

I agree.....not much reason for the cardboard cover with a bench seat.

Cover does cut down on the sloshing sound at half tank or below.lol

I have BuddyBuckets in my 72 and the tank is currently not covered but will be soon .Im using the carpet from the back of a 95 or so cab that I got the idea from TexFirefighter .The carpet was grey but I dyed it black to match the seats and is a perfect fit .
