Slammed Radio flyer

So I've been looking around for a wagon to take to car shows to haul the kiddo in and I stumbled across a build on the HAMB that inspired me to build this. After a quick craigslist search I found this "well aged" radio flyer i picked it up and started tearing her down. This is as far as I've got, I still need to paint the inside of the tub a few areas to clean it up for safe hauling. I'm going to build some wooden side rails to finish it off out of some old weathered slats.

Re: Slammed Radio flyer

Had a friend who modified a John Deere pull wagon for his twins when he went to farm shows. Added a seat bracket to accommodate for the child seats and also added pneumatic tires to make pulling easier. Don't have any pics, but he took two wagons and made one by cutting, rewelding and creating a "stretched" version to hold both car seats. Because it was for farm shows, he also added 'duals' on the back! Looked pretty neat.

Here is a link you might enjoy for ideas on your "lowrider" wagon.

Neat project and am sure it will be enjoyed! (just add a kewl paint job!)

Thanks for asking! I have got to do a few things to it this past week. I decided to leave most of it patina'd, but i did paint the tub, front running gear and added new longer handle. I might paint the wheels, i haven't decided what would be a good color to go with. I want to stay away from red. Any thoughts?

Re: Slammed Radio flyer

Just an idea to ponder:

Might try a simulated wide white wall with a black/silver center or any desired color. Here is an example, not color, that it could look like. Your call on the colors!

Nice wagon. Have fun with it!

My 6 year old is too big now for some of the things he still likes. His wagon, similar in size to yours, is one of them.

Re: Slammed Radio flyer

Kinda resurecting this thread a lil bit. I know its not a Radio flyer But I got a free garden wagon today and hacked, welded up the suspension and steering, made custom white walls, threw an outdoor seat cushion with a mexi blanket on it, oh and a rear view mirror and called it good enough to haul my kids a cooler and some parts from the Pomona swapmeet tomorrow.

Heck, That actually looks like that might be a good drain pan for fluids in the right situation.
