Issues...

Ok I am trying to set my total timing and twice now I have fried a digital timing light. I went to check the voltage in the battery while running. See pic, is this normal?

It is 13.3 when not running.

Re: Issues...

This is just a thought....worth 2 cents maybe...but I think your alternator may be "overcharging" your system. Might want to check to make sure your voltage regulator is functioning properly(wired up correctly, turns on and off when the proper level of charge is present, etc.) If you are frying timing lights, you have too much power feeding them. I think the highest charge I have seen was around 14.5 when running...just a thought. I would definitely check the charging system though-you don't want an electrical fire!!

Re: Issues...

IIRC 14.6VDC is the maximum you want to see

Re: Issues...

Thanks for the info, I upgraded to an internal regulated alt. I'm reading 14.6 now. Let's see if I can NOT fry digital timing light #3....best $15 ext warranty ever.
