Trim Rings

I have set of 15 X 8 Rallye Wheels I took off an 87 Chev C10 Shortbox last year. The trim rings were missing and I want to get replacements . My question is shoud I get 2 1/2 or 3" Rings. I think the 3" are for the Vette rallye wheels and if that is the case i'm wondering if they will fit the Chevy Rallye Wheels?

The real question is, are you going to paint the wheels PINK!

Hi Blaine, ha,ha, I was wondering if someone was gonna ask me that !! When I bought the truck it had the rallyes on it and I changed them for the ones that are in my avatar now. I really want 17" Boyd Coddington Blasters for my truck but havent been able to scrape the 2000.00 together to buy them, then another 1000. for 17' tires. I thought I'd put the Rallyes back on and was contemplating painting them white or like you asked I had thought about painting them pink and putting the wide whitewall tires on , but they are real expensive too. The truck had whitewalls and rallyes when I bought it and I did like that look.

Sorry for the picture quality but these are scanned pics from prints and show the truck with whitewalls. The outside pic is from about 2002 when I first bought the truck and the second is from a Draggins Easter Weekend Car Show around 1997/1998 whe I first saw thew truck and fell in love. When I spotted the truck with a "For Sale" in the window in Sept 01 at our annual Cruise Event I knew Iwas gonna spend some money !!

Re: Trim Rings

I wanted the wider rings, & couldn't find any that weren't dented or curb-rashed to death.

I settled for the narrower, much more common, & definitely cheaper ones.

The look kind of grew on me, and I quit looking for the wide ones.

I found three rings at first, and stopped in my tire store, and they gave me a full set. Free $$$. They had several of the narrow ones, and said they can't ever find the wide ones, either.

Yes I know the 3' are hard to find but I have a line on a set. How do you like the Cooper Cobra tires on your truck?

Re: Trim Rings

Not a bad tire at all.

My truck isn't driven daily, and they seem flat-spot a little with sitting for a week or a month, but it's such a pleasure to get to drive it when I can find or take time to do it, that it's only a small annoyance. Probably, most any tire would do that.

Truck's been out in the weather & the sun for almost three years now, and they seem to resist sun-checking pretty well, and clean-up pretty nice with very little effort.

Re: Trim Rings

Greg

I bought the same wheels that chevyredneck has on his shortbox.

Knock off Vette rally wheels off eBay. I had them mailed to me in Fort Smith and total cost was under $400.

Oh well I must go and scrap 4 inches of snow off the truck and head back to work!

Re: Trim Rings

I have the trim rings from a 88-98 truck. I like them and they were super cheap and super easy to find. Let me find a pic of them real fast.

I like the 2 1/2" rings. Too me, they make the rims look wider. jmo

Re: Trim Rings

I had the 3" and went to the 2". The 2" make the rim look bigger like mentioned earlier.

Re: Trim Rings

I have been struggling with this very problem. I have a set of 3", 2 1/2" and 2" rings. I can't decide which I like the most!
