New member of my Chevy family....1964 C60
Hey guys!
Here's a pic of my latest acquisition.... (sorry about the link problems....this one should work!) It's no beauty queen, but I'm hoping to get some good use of of her....and a little advice from you folks: It seems like the cab of this truck should still use many of the same parts as a "normal" '64 pickup (windshield, steering column, wiring harness, etc). Can anyone confirm??? It needs some love in the electrical department, the PO did a lot of splicing underneath the dash and I'd like to get that repaired. Also, they gave up on the factory turn signal assembly and clamped some aftermarket unit to the column....I'd like to get rid of that and put the correct type back in. The steering wheel has seen better days.....I wonder if it's the same as a pickup though.....is seems awfully large (diameter) for a regular vehicle. Anyway.....just wanted to say hi, and show you the pic. Last edited by -Greg72; 06-04-2004 at 08:57 PM. |

Yes.....It's large.......
But more importantly, does anyone know about the window glass, and other electrical questions I asked? It seems like the 60 - 66 trucks have quite a bit of interchangability between them....and I'm headed to the swap meet tomorrow to look for vent wing glass, and a DS door glass replacement. I'd just like to feel more confident about what I'm buying if I can get some quick quidelines from you folks..... |

i am far from an expert on these model years, but it appears the hood and cab would be interchangable, obviously the fenders and grille wouldnt. i am sure most of the interior would interchange as well.. what do you plan on using this beast for?

Well, I'm planning a cross-country move (West to East) and U-Haul wanted $4500 for a 1-way rental. I picked up this bad boy for $2000, so I figure I'm already $2500 ahead.....and that's if I decide NOT to sell it when I get to the other side. If I do sell it, I'll wager that the move becomes "FREE"... There's a side of me that thinks it'd be cool to use it for the move, then unbolt the aluminum box, and swap in a flatbed and make it into a really cool, retro car hauler for my '69 or '72 K5!!! It could use a new hood, some new lights in the hood, two new wing windows, and new piece of driver side door glass. It needs a clutch too. There's no carpeting so I'm sure it's gonna be a LOUD sucker if I don't deal with that soon. It's a 3100 mile trip with no radio, and no sound proofing.....but I'll betcha I still have a blast!!! |

nice truck.
the guys on chevytalk.com - 60-66 forums may be able to tell you more... or a few of the semi-regular psoters on stovebolt.com.. I write this because I have seen similiar posts asking these questions before. If you do not want to post over there you could go search the threads without registering. There may or may not be some info here: http://www.60-66chevytrucks.com/ Check out the 60-66 gmc trucks club - they have the various sizes of gmc trucks represented on their page: http://www.6066gmctrucks.org/ A lot of the stuff you are asking about is the same between the two... that GMC site is massive so take your time. |

Many parts from pick-ups will fit your truck. Hood, doors, glass, most dash parts, etc. What kind of engine and trans do you have in it?
