Temp guage reading
My temp on my 1949 PU goes to between 180 and 212 temp reading in the picture. Is this correct for the advanced design series trucks? Should I be making adjustments under the hood?

Re: Temp guage reading
Most of the thermostats are 195 degrees and that where most motors are efficient. They do make thermostats that open at lower temps. I just looked up the thermostat for your truck, it calls for a 160 degrees. Not that familiar with your motor (that is if you still have the original), maybe somebody with more experience can chime in.
Hope this helps Steve |

Re: Temp guage reading
First get good themometer and measure what the true temperature is at the radiator when the engine is heated up. compare to gauge to make sure it is readying right. My chevelle started to heat up last year (14 YO VDO mechanical gauges). I changed the cap, thermostat before I check the temp. Gauge had decided to start reading 15 degrees high!
