Re: lowest static drop on ad
Legal, above the scrub line of the chosen rims you plan to use.
Not so legal= On the front at least running a Camaro subframe. I could lay a pop can on it's side under the bumper and smash it by stepping on the bumper. The year before on a road trip to Texas. Even with rear end sitting higher I had trouble getting across driveway into store parking lots and got hung up on speed bumps and almost knocked the right running board off in Utah hitting a piece of 4x4 lumber in the road. The frame wasn't notched in the rear so it couldn't go any lower there. Front tires were 195-60 14 |

Re: lowest static drop on ad
Depends what front end you have too.
Mine is an older Heit's MII and with stock spindles I'm 5-1/2" off the ground. I've heard the newer crossmembers don't hang as low so with drop spindles I would guess you would be about 2"-3" off the pavement. The rear end looks like it needs a kick up to lay frame but mine is just an underslung axle. Hopefully one of the frame draggers will chime in with some real world experience. P.S. don't get put off if you dont get a reply quickly enough, sometimes this place is a bit slow or the experienced guys haven't read your post yet! |

Re: lowest static drop on ad
The good thing is that most state's law enforcement folks don't count exhaust in the scrub line.
On a side note, one thing to figure out on an extremely lowered vehicle is how you are going to jack it up both in the shop and on the road. I carried two jacks in the 48. One small bottle jack to stick under the front frame horn to lift the truck high enough to be able to put a small floor jack under the axle to jack the tire off the ground. Then a pair of 2x6 boards with one end cut at and angle to set under the tire after it was changed to get the jack out. |
