Re: Front axle hub 4x4

I have a nylon block I use to smack it in different locations around the clock to break it loose. I'll also drive a chisel at the base and it eventually starts moving to where the chisel can get in there, then work it out with tapping the soft block. I guess you could use a nylon hammer, but I like laying the block on there and swinging a heavier hammer

Borrow the slide hammer puller from a parts store.

heat it up a little bit with an acetyline torch but dont get to crazy with the heat you dont want to warp anything and then give it a few light slams

Are you talking about the spindle? There is a slide hammer adaptor that threads on, but I have seen people ruin stuck spindles by pulling the threads off using one of these.

Lots of penetrant applied front and back, tapping around the spindle using a wood block and lots of patience have always worked for me

Re: Front axle hub 4x4

The proper tool is the best way to go with this. It can take a serious beating and banging session into a quick/simple procedure. I have never seen or heard of anyone hurting the spindle with one of these?

A guy who intends to work on his own 4x4 should have one, along with the spindle nut socket.
